Hockey Badass Of The Week: Teemu Selanne

by Lead Badass on November 2, 2012

Teemu Selanne, or the Finnish Flash as he’s also known, is nothing less than an outstanding ice hockey player.

Maybe even the best Finish player of all time. And yes, when I made that statement I kept Jari Kurri in mind.

With 21 seasons in the NHL Teemu Selanne is one of the most experienced players around, and he shows no sign of taking his foot off the gas. At 42 he is still regarded as a serious threat to any defense, and goalies all around the NHL fear him as soon as he takes control of the puck.

His amazing stats are a testament of that.

After all these years in the NHL he still holds the record of most points in one season for a rookie (132 points in 84 games). And he has an amazing 1406 points in 1341 games to date.

Pretty impressive shit!

Teemu Selanne started his NHL career 92-93 with the Winnipeg Jets and has played throughout his incredible career with the San Jose Sharks, the Colorado Avalanche and of course his beloved Anaheim Ducks.

I hope that he can stay healthy and keep playing the game that he loves. I know that the Anaheim Ducks fans and hockey lovers all over the globe feel the same way.

Cheers to you Teemu. You’re our Hockey Badass of the week.

Number eight in your programs, number one in your hearts. You may not find a player more universally loved in the National Hockey League, or even in all of professional sports, than Anaheim Ducks, Teemu Selanne. [Source]
